I was absolutely infuriated this morning when I was driving west on Hwy 72 between Athens and Rogersville. This white pickup truck, with a toolbox across the bed was doing about 65 miles apparently not giving a second thought to his reckless behavior. On top of the toolbox was a black Labrador mixed dog with his feet on top of the cab riding, unbeknownst to him, with a fucking ALABAMA, REDNECK, IDIOT. The dog did not have any type of restraint on him, nor was he wearing a collar of any kind. Is there not a law against this obvious stupidity? Wouldn't this be considered FELONY animal abuse, or at least FELONY animal endangerment? If anyone knows this FUCKING IDIOT, about 30 years old, white, light brown hair, put him in contact with me. Some one obviously needs to beat some fucking sense into this idiot's head.

The new living room furniture was delivered on Friday 12/30 and it is awesome. The power reclining sofa makes sitting for longer periods of time possible because you can adjust it to an exact position that is comfortable for you. Since Janit and I both have some serious back issues this makes entertaining our friends more enjoyable. All the living room needs now is some tables, and our pictures need to be hung. Our new bedroom furniture should be here in about 2 weeks. After that our home will be furnished other than a few odds and ends that will make the home more functional, and complete. I personally want to thank Paul Wellman of Hickory Park Furniture Galleries for all his assistance. I would strongly suggest to anyone that is in the market for new furniture to contact Hickory Park to save hundreds of dollars on name brand furniture. You can follow them on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Hickory-Park-Furniture-Galleries/202063016295. I mentioned last week that a Wal-Mart representative contacted me concerning the pants incident, and the manager Bobby, of the Oxford, NC store who called me a liar to my face concerning a purchase.
I want to start by saying thank-you to the representative for the "Customer Satisfaction," that I received in the mail. On Thursday, I received a $20.00 gift card for the price of the pants minus the tax. Although, it was an honest gesture that should have been the normal resolution to the purchase of defective merchandise, it does not come close to resolving the incident of one of their managers implying that I lied about my purchase. Since Bobby has been quiet, and has refused to contact me, I honestly want to see him lose his position in the company. I could be vindictive and say I would like to see him lose his job, but I think that would be excessive. He should have to go back into training and be demoted to an Asst. Manager's position, preferably in the Customer Service Department to learn how to respectfully resolve customer complaints and problems. Since I doubt Bobby has the backbone, and moral ethics needed to apologize and admit that he made an error in judgement I will continue to complain to Wal-Mart's corporate office and post complaints about the management team in the Oxford, NC store every chance I get. People Target is almost as abundant as Wal-mart, and their prices are just as competitive. In my opinion the merchandise is of better or equal quality. I think as a New Years resolution we should all vow to shop less at Wal-Mart in 2012, and look for other department stores in our communities for our shopping needs. Update on the Wal-Mart post:
Today I received a call from a Wal-Mart representative who wanted to offer an apology for the way we were treated by Bobby, the manager of the Wal-Mart in Oxford, NC. I was impressed with the professionalism she displayed in the phone call and I am considering removing the negative post I made concerning this store. I would have already removed it but I want to find a way to inform people of the rude, and unprofessional manager Wal-Mart still has in charge of that store. You see the company representative apologized on behalf of the company but Bobby needs to apologize to me personally for calling me a liar. I am still bothered by his flippant attitude, and his unprofessional behavior over a $20.00 pair of jeans. Yesterday we got our new carpet for the living room and the master bedroom. I can't tell you how nice it was to have it installed. We have not had a decent nights rest since we moved here last month. As we have told most everyone the house was not as move in ready as we expected, and we have been doing everything possible to clean it up and get it into shape.
The carpet is a very light green and we love it. When the new furniture gets here, it is going to be awesome. Our next important thing to do is to buy and install new window treatments. We have looked at and plan to purchase some new burlap drapes and Roman style shades for the bay windows in the living room. We are considering just shades on the remaining windows in the dining room but they will be next. In the next week we will be looking for auctions in the area. We need some end tables, dressers, chest of drawers, dining room chairs and various other furnishings. For those that don't already know, my mother owned Gresham's Lake Antique Mall. I used to love going to antique auctions with her. That will be the one major thing I miss most about my mother. I hope someday someone will miss something like that about me. I often wonder what if anything I have passed on to others in my life that they themselves will enjoy when I am no longer around. I am going to start thinking more about that. _To begin with I want everyone to know that I know how to spell words with long I's but I am not sure how to make you read them as they are said in Alabama so bear with me in these stories....
Gotta love Ala-fuckin-bama. Direct TV dude came to the house to install the dish. "Okay, well looka here. In the Spring time and in the Summer you mite have trouble with that one limb way up yonder. You see that littlun up there at the top. Well I know you came down here from NC and I cain't (promounced ain't with a c) tell you what to do but I know a few people round here that would get a cooler of beer, call their friends and have a shootin contest. Just get a cheap ole .22 and see who can knock that limb out that there tree." I shit you not this was an honest to God conversation. The bad thing about it is I honestly thought about it. I even asked my new neighbor about it and he thought I had lost my mind. Now here are three leaf burning stories that have happened to me in this state. 1997....Tuscumbia....Colbert Heights Mountain. Doc: "Man you have to burn the leaves when you put them in the ditch. They don't come by and suck them out with a machine you dummy." Me: Burn em? Doc: "Yeah man here let me show you." Doc then proceeded to walk down the line of leaves and set them on fire. I had a wall of flames 5 feet high, and 120 feet long. Me: Doc you're gonna get us arrested man. Doc: "No man, its okay. You just have to be careful." A fire truck comes cruising through neighborhood. "Oh hey Doc, should have known it was you. You guys just keep a close watch on things." Two Weeks later: Doc "Hey man watcha doin?" Me. A snake went in the woods here between the houses. Doc leaned over and lit the leaves on his side of the woods on fire. Doc "Just stand over there. If he is still in there he is probably going to come out on your side." 2011 ..... Rogersville, AL ..... Elk River Area Me: Hey man have you seen all these leaves in my yard? Neighbor: "Yeah been a few years since anyone raked em." Me: What do I do with them? Neighbor: "Get you a good leaf blower, blow em to the road and just burn em man." Me: Burn them? Neighbor: "Yeah man that's how they do it around here." So the leaves were blown for about a week. Some days God's leaf blower was a little stronger than mine but finally the day came when I had more leaves in the ditch than I did in the yard. I started walking down the pile trying to light the pile. Neighbor: "You must be a city boy? Hee, hee, hee. I can tell cause a country boy don't lite leaves with a match or liter. Here try this torch!" For the second time in my life I had a wall of flames 5 feet high 240 feet long this time within 5 mins. I know I fvcked up the odds on the bets my neighbors had going as to whose house would burn to the ground first, when I ran and got a second garden hose. However, the day was still early, and everyone's home was still in the race. I burned leaves from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM and they are still smoldering as I type this. I cringed every time a new vehicle drove down this dead end street, as I knew I had attracted the local closet arsonists. I had given them the perfect opportunity to wipe out half the State and they would never have been blamed. City boy my ass. I am a pro at burning leaves after living next door to Doc for 3 years. I have to tell you about the Wal-Mart in Oxford, NC. I was a loyal customer of that store and I challenge the corporate office to run my Credit Card Number, or name through their database. I know I spent an average of $1000.00 a month on groceries, medications, and clothes in that store for over three years.
About a month ago I purchased 3 pairs of the Levi Strauss jeans, Relax Fit, Carpenter style. I bought two for myself and one pair for a young man that helped me move and clean up the farm before I left Wilton. On the first day of wearing his new pants the jeans ripped beside the rear pocket. We took the jeans back to the store but did not have the receipt as we had packed everything to move to our new home. I spoke first to customer service who said they would not replace the jeans without a receipt. I then spoke to their Assistant Manage who said the jeans looked older than a few days. They were very dirty as this kid and his wife used our washer and dryer to clean their clothes. As I said we had packed everything for our move. I then spoke to the Manager Bobby whom I have spoken to numerous times over the past couple of years so he knew my face. He said the pants looked older than a week, and refused to replace them without the receipt. Now I understand people try to pull fast ones over on Wal-Mart all the time, but these are a $20.00 pair of jeans and not worth trying to scam anyone over. To a kid who rarely gets new clothes though they meant a lot. I tried to reason with Bobby but he walked away and would not discuss it. Well Bobby, I moved to a city that is also surrounded by Target. Thanks to you I have come to realize that I have been putting all my eggs in one basket by doing all my shopping at Wal-Mart. It is time to spread the love and make Target my main go-to store for food, household, and clothes from here on out. You, Bobby are an idiot that chose to call an honest customer a liar, and you chose to lose a $1000.00 + a month customer over a $20.00 pair of jeans. I am sure you will go far in your corporate life and I am sure your bosses are proud to have an idiot like you in charge of their store. I know I have made this rant before but not here on my blog as a permanent post that I control and promote. Back in October 2007, I purchased a lifetime subscription for a service that was 6 yrs old but still struggling to survive. Sirius Radio was competing against XM for customers. XM was the largest satellite radio corporation in the US, but Sirius had one thing that interested me more than XM and that was Howard Stern. So I paid for a lifetime subscription so I would not have to worry about a monthly payment for the service.
In 2008 Sirius and XM merged into one corporation SiriusXM. They have a combined format and they broadcast from one source jointly. Here is my complaint about SiriusXM. I purchased a new vehicle two months ago. It came equipped with a satellite radio and you have to call SiriusXM to activate your new radio. However, even though you own a lifetime subscription with Sirius, it is not considered a subscription to the new SiriusXM. According to SiriusXM the radios in the new cars are XM radios and a new subscription must be purchased for the XM radio if you want service. Now you can run exterior wires and install the docking system in your new vehicle and still receive your Sirius service which is the same broadcast for the NEW SiriusXM but the channels may be different. Personally I feel Sirius and XM, who chose to MERGE their companies into one, need to treat their customers as one customer base. SiriusXM has chosen not to do this. Why? In my opinion their decision to treat their broadcast and their customers as two separate groups allows them to rob their customers of more money by charging you for the same service, based on the brand of radio you purchase, even thought they are all now SiriusXM. I would not recommend this service to anyone at the moment. I would suggest that people should wait until SiriusXM begins treating their customers as one group, and their service as one broadcast. To be perfectly honest, aside from the Howard Stern Show, the sports channels and a few exclusive channels there is nothing that SiriusXM has that is worth paying for. All the comedy channels keep playing the same clips over and over again and the music can be heard for free on any FM channel or your personal collection of CDs. I downloaded a copy of the Jefferson Bible the other day out of curiosity. James Rollins who writes some amazing books mentioned it in his latest book The Devil Colony. I have really enjoyed reading it and actually understand a little more about the purported history of Jesus Christ. For those of you that get lost in all the Thees and Thous, and often excessively long drawn out stories, this bible is really awesome. It seems Thomas Jefferson decided to edit the Bible into a condensed story that includes just the actual words and teaching of Jesus.
Anyway, if you are searching for a new author, may I suggest James Rollins. All of his books have taught me something, the latest was an amazing lesson I will never forget. We WASPS like to think that our forefathers possessed amazing foresight, and intellect to produce documents like the Constitution of The United States and our Declaration of Independence. However, did you know that our Constitution was greatly influenced by the Iroquois Law that was written 250 years before our Constitution. According to Rollins, Chief Canasatego is considered by some to be one of our Lost Founding Fathers. Rollins give great account to this story of Canasatego's influence. These are the words beginning the Iroquois Law: "We, the people, to form a union, to establish peace, equity, and order..." Rollins then goes on to further astound the Wasps of the US by citing Resolution 331, passed in October 1988, which acknowledges the influence the Iroquois constitution had upon the documents we credit our founding fathers of writing for this nation. Read one of his books and you will be hooked on Rollins writing skills. I sat here all day wasting my time looking all over the internet for deals on appliances. I am thoroughly convinced that appliance dealers are as deceptive as toilet paper manufacturers. Lowe's is running a great sale this week but they chose one of the worst manufacturers to include in the sale.
I am not sure if anyone has checked out the Frigidaire stoves with the "warming tray" drawers that fall out on your feet or the handles that break with the slightest pressure. The product line sucks. Samsung is making a pretty good product and the reviews are impressive. I also like the Whirlpool brand. Seems they have a well made product. Then you find out that Whirlpool owns: Maytag, Amana, Admiral, JENN Aire, Magic Chef, and they have something to do with the Samsung product line. Talk about swallowing up your competition, Whirlpool has pretty much made sure they have a piece of any pie being baked today. |
